Park Information 

Rent Idlewild Park and Calavera Springs Park pavilions for the day!

Residents of Suamico wanting to reserve park shelters for personal use should contact the Suamico Village Hall at (920) 434-2212.  Both shelters are available for reservation on a first come first serve basis. Reservations will be accepted for the year beginning January 15th. Calavera Springs Park pavilion closes December 1st and re-opens April 1st.

Park Rental Fee: $100.00 for the day.

Security Deposit: $150.00 (separate check) will be required as a deposit to ensure the clean‑up requirement and the return of the key to the Village Office by the next working day.

Unfortunately, we are not able to "hold" a day for you until you are able to come in and pay. Park pavilion rental is on a first come first serve basis.

  • Park hours are: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday - Thursday and 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Friday - Saturday.
  • Dogs and other animals are not permitted in any village parks.
  • Vehicles permitted only on designated roads and parking areas.
  • Glass containers are not allowed in any park.
  • PLEASE no smoking inside the pavilions.
  • Both parks have a kitchen inside the buildings. Items in each kitchen include: Stove, refrigerator, oven, and sink.

All other Rules and Regulations are listed on the Rental Agreement Contract you receive at the time of rental.

 

IDLEWILD COMMUNITY PARK- is an approximately 55 acre facility located at the intersection of Harbor Lights Road and Lakeview Drive and is also the location of the village office. The park is served by sanitary sewer and is soon to receive municipal water service. Current improvements include one lighted softball field, one baseball field, three youth fields, and two tennis courts constructed in 2000. New light was installed on the softball diamond in 2005. A concession stand, playground equipment, and a seasonal shelter support the athletic fields. An all season pavilion is available for rental to village residents with combined parking area sufficient to accommodate 300 vehicles. There ate also wetlands and woods for the nature enthusiast with the intention of a trail system in the near future.

 

CALAVERA SPRINGS COMMUNITY PARK - is located in the southwestern portion of the Village on Flintville Road (CTH “M”). Named after Minerva Calewaerts, this 68.5-acre park was purchased
in 1991, and developed in 1998 to include soccer and flag football fields, three fenced softball fields, marked walking/cross country ski trails, and an all season pavilion with concession stand. In 2000, two tennis courts were added and the parking lots were paved to accommodate 300 vehicles. A handicap-parking stall was provided for access to the soccer/football fields. Restroom accommodations are provided for public use thru port-a- potties. For organized or facility rental events, the indoor restrooms are made available for use in the pavilion. The parks most unique feature is a flowing spring that is a
tributary to Hidden Lake and the Suamico River. In order to showcase the full extent of what the park has to offer, the walking trails direct users past this spring, through open prairie, woodlands, and wetlands. Consideration has been given to adding a Frisbee golf
course to the park and a small ice rink is made on a trial basis until sufficient interest is shown.

The NEW Zoo is located 11 miles northwest of Green Bay, within the Brown County Reforestation Camp. The NEW ZOO and Brown County Reforestation Camp together function as a 1600-acre recreational area serving over a half million visitors each year. The miles of trails, picnic areas, trout ponds, and animal exhibits provide fun and enjoyment for the whole family. Visit the observation tower to see a good portion of the animal exhibits and lush habitat.

Nestled among the pines are playground areas, grills, volleyball courts and a ball diamond. Two shelters within the Reforestation Camp may also be rented for picnics and special events - call the Brown County Parks Department. at (920)448-6242. The camp's miles of hiking, biking, and nature trails will delight the outdoor enthusiast. Winter is great fun for snow-shoers and cross-country skiers combing miles of unbroken forest.

L.H. BARKHAUSEN WATERFOWL PRESERVE - is 473 acres located in the southeast corner of the Village of Suamico. It is adjacent to the 447 acre Fort Howard Paper Foundation Wildlife Area south of Lineville Road in the Village of Howard. This woodland marsh contains several water impoundments and provides excellent habitat for nesting waterfowl, waterfowl, shorebirds, deer and rabbits. The preserve also provides over 8 miles of hiking and cross country ski trails. trails.

WIED MILL PARK - is a 9.4 acre park obtained by the Village in 1996 to accommodate residential growth in the central portion of the Village. The site is located southwest of Riverside Drive adjacent to the Suamico River. Approximately 60% of the site is located within the floodplain of the Suamico River and offers space for activity that should be limited to passive recreational use.

REFORESTATION CAMP - is located in the northwest portion of the Village with access provided by County "B", west of US Highway  41/141. The 1600 acre forest consists of a variety of vegetation communities. Wet lowland communities dominated by Aspen and Ash are scattered throughout the forest intermixed with section of highland species like White Pine, Red Oak, Red Maple, and White Birch. Sandy, well drained areas within the Reforestation Camp often support numerous Red Pine plantations. The scenic terrain offers 6.2 miles of snowmobile trails, 19 miles of cross country ski trails, 8 miles of horseback riding trails, and 20 miles of mountain bike trails. Nestled among the pines are several playgroundTrout Bridge areas, grills, volleyball courts and a softball diamond. Two shelters complete with cooking facilities are available for rent. Additional facilities include a rifle range, fishing ponds and an observation tower. Parking has been recently expanded to accommodate over 500 cars. The Reforestation Camp is also home to the 14 acre NEW ZOO facility located at the end of County "IR". This popular family destination accommodates over 100,000 visitors annually for a wide variety of seasonal events.

SUAMICO BOAT LANDING - is a 4 acre boat launching facility which provides four launching lanes for access to the Suamico River and Bay of Green Bay. Located on Sunset Beach Road.

FIREMEN'S PARK - is a small, 1/2 acre park adjacent to the Suamico River on Riverside Drive. The park is undeveloped, but does provide fishermen and canoe access to the Suamico River.
